St. Anne's Church

A masterpiece of late Gothic architecture in Vilnius, built from 33 different types of bricks. According to legend, Napoleon wanted to carry it to Paris in the palm of his hand.

St. Anne's Church is one of the most beautiful late Gothic buildings in Europe, constructed around 1495–1500. The facade is composed of 33 different types of red bricks, creating an intricate and elegant ornamental pattern. According to popular legend, Napoleon Bonaparte exclaimed in 1812 that he wished he could carry the church to Paris in the palm of his hand. Adjacent stands the Bernardine Church and monastery, forming a unified Gothic ensemble. The church is an active parish, and its unique silhouette has become one of Vilnius's most famous symbols, depicted on countless postcards and souvenirs.
