St. Gertrude's Church is a small but very old Gothic church in Kaunas, situated near the famous Laisvės Alėja. The first church on this site was built at the end of the 15th century, and the current structure dates to the early 16th century. It is one of the smallest sacral buildings in Kaunas, yet its historical value is immense. The church features simple but elegant Gothic forms – pointed window arches and thick masonry. Over the centuries it served as a suburban parish church, and today it is an important architectural monument and active parish in the city center.
