Siauliai Ausra Museum

One of the oldest museums in Lithuania, founded in 1923, presenting the history, archaeology, and ethnography of the Siauliai region. The museum has several branches in the city.

The Siauliai Ausra Museum is one of the oldest museums in Lithuania, founded in 1923. The museum is named after the first Lithuanian newspaper "Ausra" and presents the history of the Siauliai region from prehistory to the present day. The collections encompass over 400,000 exhibits – archaeological finds, historical documents, ethnographic collections, artworks, and photographs. The museum has several branches in Siauliai: the main exhibition, the Photography Museum, the Bicycle Museum, and the Radio and Television Museum. A special place is given to the exhibition dedicated to the 1236 Battle of Saule, in which the Samogitians defeated the Livonian Brothers of the Sword. The museum actively conducts scholarly and educational activities.
