The Lithuanian Sea Museum is one of the most visited museums in the country, housed in a 19th-century fortress at the northern tip of the Curonian Spit, near the port of Klaipeda. The museum presents Lithuanian maritime history, shipping, marine wildlife, and ecology. It features one of the largest marine aquariums in the Baltic States with hundreds of marine and freshwater species. The dolphinarium hosts dolphin and sea lion shows. The outdoor exhibition features historic ships and fishing tools. The museum annually attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors and is the main tourist attraction in the coastal region. It is an excellent destination for families with children.
