Birzai Region Museum Sela
A museum in the rebuilt Birzai Castle, presenting the history of northern Lithuania and the heritage of the Radvila dukes. The castle hosts historical exhibitions and a cultural events space.
The Birzai Region Museum "Sela" operates in the rebuilt Birzai Castle – a 17th-century bastion fortress that served as a residence of the Radvila dukes. The museum presents the history of the Birzai region from ancient times, with special emphasis on the Reformation movement and the Radvila dynasty's role in the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The exhibitions feature a castle model, archaeological finds, historical documents, and collections of weapons and coins. The museum also presents local ethnography, folk art, and traditional culture. The castle and its surrounding water defense structures form a unique fortification ensemble. Cultural events, concerts, and reenactments are regularly held here.
