Vytautas the Great War Museum

One of the largest war museums in the Baltic States, founded in 1921 at the end of Laisves Avenue. The exhibition covers Lithuanian military history from the GDL era to NATO membership.

Vytautas the Great War Museum is one of the largest and oldest war museums in the Baltic region, founded in 1921 in Kaunas. The museum stands at the end of Laisves Avenue, next to Unity Square. The exhibition covers Lithuanian military history from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania era to modern Lithuania's participation in NATO missions. The museum displays weapons, uniforms, military equipment, flags, and documents. In the museum garden stand aircraft, tanks, and artillery pieces. A particularly valuable collection relates to the 1918–1940 Lithuanian Republic army and the volunteer wars. It is an important place for understanding Lithuanian defense history.
